Amelia Island Fishing Spots

Dee Dee Bartles Nature Center and Fishing Pier

Also two boat ramps, but I guess that wouldn't fit on the sign. There are two short concrete piers on either side of the boat ramps where you can fish in the Amelia River. There's a large parking lot, and no fees to use the facilities.

To find this spot, drive north on 14th street until you cross the 14th street bridge at Egans Creek, then follow the road to the left and along Egans Creek to the entrance.

Expect to catch trout, flounder, sheepshead, whiting and small fish here such as pin fish and spot.

There are a lot of rocks in the water immediatly around the pier, so be careful where you toss your cast net and expect to lose a rig now and then if bottom fishing here. Try floating live shrimp for trout or fish around the concrete pilings using fiddler crabs for sheepshead.

Walk along the river on either side of the boat ramps to find fiddler crabs for bait; this area is also a good spot to catch finger mullet at times.

Since the primary use of this facility is as a boat ramp, fishing at times can be challenging due to boat and jet ski traffic, especially on the weekends.

A bad day of fishing is much better than a good day of cutting the grass.
